LED Panel to Heatsink

The High Light 420 LED panel can be screwed to the heatsink using the supplied M3 screws at any time during assembly as long as you are careful not to rest the LEDs face-down.

DO NOT REST LEDS ON ANY SURFACE

Orientate the panel so that the connector end is on the same side as the U-bolt holes in the heatsink. Use the black circles in the middle of the panel as a guide to centering the screws so that the panel fits exactly on to the heatsink. Tighten screws until they are snug, but not overly tight.

If there is any risk of damaging the LEDs during assembly, please move on to the next steps first and mount the High Light 420 panel to the heatsink last.

U-Bolt to Cable Connector

The cable connector is anchored to the top of the heatink with a stainless steel U-bolt. There is a small indent in the connector where the end cap screws into the main body – this is where the U-bolt should be located. The blue rubber seal on the other end of the connector should be just clear of the heatsink. The red and black wires should be tucked under the cable connector with the white and orange TE plug connector exiting underneath – it will form an “S” shape when it connnects to the High Light 420 panel and ensure wires are tucked away.

Tighten U-Bolt

Use the supplied washers and nuts to tighten the U-bolt until both sides are finger tight.

Tighten nuts with spanner 1/2 – 3/4 of a turn.

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN U-BOLT

Connect High Light 420 Panel

BE CAREFUL

Hold board connector with one hand as you push the plug in until it snaps into place. Plug will be a tight fit and it is important that you hold the connector on the board when plugging and unplugging to ensure it does not break from excessive force.

Finished U-Bolt

The U-bolt should hold the cable connector firmly in place. The blue rubber seal should not touch the heatsink fins. You can now hang your assembled High Light 420 kit and plug the driver cable into the board at one end and the driver at the other.

There is a quick-release tab on top of the cable connector that can be pressed down to release the connector.

DO NOT PUT PRESSURE ON CONNECTOR

Ensure that driver cable is not bent up and down or side to side at an excessive angle so as to put unwanted pressure on the connector fitting.

Connect an External Dimmer

If you have bought the optional external Dimmer, simply connect the blue wire to the positive (+) terminal and the white wire to the negative (–) terminal. Note: Dimmer is not waterproof, so please keep away from moisture.

No Dimmer, No Problem

If you do not wish to use an external dimmer, place each of the supplied heatshrink caps over the blue and white dimmer wires and use a heat source (hair drier, cigarette lighter, gas burner etc) to shrink the caps and seal the wires. Once properly shrunk, wires will be waterproof. You may notice small globs of clear glue at each end of the caps after being heat-shrunk – this is normal.

Adjust Driver

You can adjust the voltage (Vo) and current (Io) on the driver by removing the black rubber caps and inserting a small screwdriver (phillips head or flathead) into the slots.

Locate the internal dial with the screwdriver and GENTLY turn clockwise to set maximum voltage and current. Turn anti-clockwise to dim. Normally voltage (Vo) is set to maximum and current (Io) is used to adjust power. Maximum dimming can be achieved with the voltage dial.

BE CAREFUL

Do not force dials. If resistance is encountered (hard stop), then dial is set to maximum (clockwise) or minimum (anti-clockwise).

When both Vo and Io dials are set, the optional external dimmer can be used to dim the driver but will only go as high as the Vo and Io settings. If more power is required, turn up the onboard voltage and/or current dials.
