Exclusively designed and manufactured in Australia, the “High Light 420” series of LED grow panels has been proven around the world to boost yields, essential oils and terpenes – as well as reduce fruiting and flowering times – with enhanced UVA and Far Red light.
These are the same LED panels that go into every Grow Lights Australia fixture. Now you can build your own super-efficient PAR+ LED grow light!
Ideal for most plant varieties and all stages of growth, these LED panels cover the entire PAR+ range from 390-780nm.
With the highest levels of Far Red light in the industry, the latest version of our “true” full-spectrum LED grow panels has a number of improvements over the previous High Light Gen2.
Like previous generations, every Gen3 panel is water-proofed with a proprietary modified silicon coating that loses less than 1% light output – boosting overall efficiency up to 3.19 umol/j.
The “sun-like” spectrum still features industry-leading CRI95 colour rendition with 1% UVA and 10% Far Red light, but has a revised colour temperature of 2900-3000K* with an optimum amount of blue light.
In-house research has found that ~3000K with additional UVA and Far Red light is the best alround spectrum for general growth, fruiting and flowering of most species – including ornamentals, shade plants, fruits, vegetables and tropical varieties.
(We have a new LED Strip design with added blue that covers ~3200K for leafy greens and non-flowering varieties. Details to follow.)
Our other major upgrade is the heat and chemical-proof 20AWG hard-wiring for each panel. This robust wiring system ensures the panels will not fail even when accidentally over-currented, over-heated or physically compromised.
With 420 real top bin LEDs from LED Teknik (Australia’s leading designer of horticultural LEDs) and Nichia Corporation of Japan (manufacturer of the world’s most efficient mid-power and UV LEDs), the High Light 420 spectrum has been refined and engineered to produce the best results with the highest efficiency of any “true” full-spectrum grow light on the market.
Not all LEDs are equal. Many do not cover the most important spectral ranges below 450nm (UVA and near-UV) and above 700nm (Far Red). “True” full spectrum plant light not only provides better health and vigour, it leads to bigger yields, bigger leaves and shorter flowering times with documented increases in terpenes and oils.
UVA not only “hardens” indoor plants that would normally be exposed to UV under the sun, it drives secondary metabolite production (essential oils) and root growth, while countering the stretch associated with “shade avoidance”.
While elevated levels of Far Red light can lead to “shade avoidance”, the presence of UVA counters stem stretch while producing larger leaves that facilitate faster photosynthesis. This is separate to the “Emerson Effect” of Far Red that also enhances photosynthesis in the presence of Red light (600-700nm).
Increased Far Red light reduces fruiting and flowering times as it targets the phytochromes (Pr and Pfr) that regulate photomorphogenesis (physical changes to the plant when exposed to different colours, including the Red-to-Far Red ratio).
The high colour rendition of these LED panels (CRI95) is also an important feature, as horticulturalists benefit from seeing their plants in “true” light to ensure they are not suffering from nutrient deficiencies, disease or pests. High CRI is also easier for the human eye to work under, as it is very close to natural sunlight (CRI100).
The wide light footprint of the High Light 420 Gen3 panel – which is 1.6x larger than traditional “Quantum Boards” – provides a uniform plant canopy, while the 2:1 ratio means each board can be mounted side-by-side to form a perfect square, or end-to-end for longer grow areas.
Despite their high efficiency, High Lights will usually display lower PPFD readings than other LED lights because more than 10% of their light falls outside the traditional PAR range of 400-700nm. This means a 900 PPFD reading under a High Light is over 1000 PFD (photon flux density) when ALL light is taken into account (including UVA and Far Red). Always set your lights 10% lower under High Lights than you would under other LED grow lights for best results.
* CCT increases slightly at higher currents but will be between 2900-3000K
